Philipp Piber, Managing Director of Austro Control, has taken over as Chairperson of the COOPANS Alliance Board for the next 2 years. Mario Kunovec Varga, appointed as new Director General of Croatia Control in April of this year, was elected COOPANS Vice-Chair.

Philipp Piber has been with Austro Control since 2016, after serving in positions at the Ministry of Finance as well as the Ministry of Transport. Before becoming managing director, he headed the Aviation Authority within Austro Control.

The modernisation of the ATM system will be among the main priorities of the COOPANS Alliance in the coming years. "System modernisation is a critical requirement to achieve COOPANS' strategic goals in terms of capacity, cost and regulatory targets. We have put together a strong team and created the necessary governance structures within COOPANS to achieve our goals", says the new COOPANS Chair Philipp Piber.

Going operational with the new ATM system “ATC One” and thus creating the technical prerequisites for forward-looking operational concepts will be at the forefront of COOPANS activities in the upcoming years.
