Peter has been a strong supporter of COOPANS and a member of the Alliance Board since 2018. Committed to innovation in air traffic management, he looks forward to leading the Alliance in the further development of the COOPANS partnership.

“With the many challenges aviation faces over the coming years, the COOPANS Alliance has a key role to play in helping the aviation sector tackle the COVID-19 issues and setting new standards for harmonisation and efficiency in air traffic management. I look forward to working with the Board to achieve this. I also thank Ann Persson Grivas who has worked tirelessly as Chair of the Alliance since 2018,” he said.

Peter has been with the IAA since 1998. A former air traffic controller, he has held various management positions. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School and holds a BSc (Hons) Business Management from Trinity College Dublin, a Master’s in human Factors and Safety Assessment in Aeronautics from Cranfield University and a PhD specialising in the area of human factors in ATM system design. A keen aviator, Peter is an experienced helicopter pilot.

COOPANS members share their local and European experiences and work together to agree and develop common air traffic control equipment specifications. In 2011, the IAA was the first aviation authority in Europe to introduce new systems under the COOPANS agreement for the purchase and installation of new Air Traffic Management (ATM) technology.  Recognised by the European Commission as a key step towards the realisation of the Single European Sky (SES), the COOPANS Alliance continues to be at the forefront of ATM innovation and harmonisation.
